It has been common knowledge in Westminster for some time that the engagement of Welsh Liberal Democrat MP, Lembit Opik and television weather presenter, Sian Lloyd had ended. Now it has been revealed that Mr Opik has replaced - "Scattered showers and highs of 13 degrees" for:
"Don't ask why, Don't be shy, Touch my bum, This is life."
These are the lyrics of the 'Cheeky Song' - the first UK single released by the 'Cheeky Girls'. It was voted the worst pop record of all time despite remaining in the UK top 5 for five weeks in January 2004.
Mr Opik has been dating Gabriela Irimia, one of the pop twin duo.
The twin sisters from Romania moved to the UK with their mother in 2002. They shot to fame through popular TV show, 'Popstars: The Rivals'.
Margit Irimia, the Cheeky Girls' mother, is said to be pleased with her daughters choice and is, apparently, not concerned about the age gap or Mr Opik's UFO obsessions.
Mr Opik was born in Northern Ireland, the son of Estonian refugees. He has represented the Welsh constituency of Montgomeryshire since 1997.
